Who Are You Serving in Your Silence?

silence

Since “Showered By Grace” was published, I have talked to many women who, after reading the book, have said to me, “Someday I’ll tell you my story.” My reaction is always the same, ”What are you waiting for?” They will only speak a vague blanket statement about God in their life. Their ears are tuned to what other people share about their past, while they silently compare the sins voiced to what they have never shared from their own history.

Fear keeps our mouths closed. Fear of rejection, condemnation, exposure, loss/change in relationships. Some people may have lied to their spouse, family, church friends, coworkers, or others in their circle of influence, and to reveal the truth would be too risky. Though saved, many remain in bondage to the approval of others, afraid they will be treated differently or no longer accepted by their friends and acquaintances, afraid of what they might lose.

Meanwhile, people all around us are dying in their sin. God is asking us to tell people what He has done for us. To share the redeeming power of His love and grace. To let others know we love them enough to talk about our dirt and hurt honestly. We give praise to God for our salvation when we share what He has done for us. Telling our story reminds us of where we were and how far God has brought us. It reveals His amazing work in our lives that continues on a daily basis. Our willingness to open our mouths and share with others allows the Holy Spirit to minister to others as we talk.

If God has changed your life, your attitude, your thoughts, your desires, throw off the chains that bind and tell somebody what God has done for you!

“Not to us, O Lord, not to us but to your name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” – Psalm115:1
